My husband and I stayed here for a week for our honeymoon. We absolutely loved every minute of everyday! We will be back!!
We have stayed in the scallop cove villas for 8 years and have LOVED every one of them. Scallop cove provides the best of both worlds...bayfront with boat dock and a very short walk to beach. It also great the convient store and bait store are right at your back door. It is always very clean.
We were very pleased with our experience. The cottage is an especially good location for bringing your pet. There is a huge yard which is well away from the road and access to the beach is very convenient. The view of the bay is lovely -- we enjoyed watching herons and egrets and the sunrise over the bay is beautiful. The cottage is well equipt although the couch springs are worn out so the couch is a bit uncomfortable. The only thing missing was a good spatula! Hardly a deal breaker. We love the isolation of the cape although I imagine it's busier later in the year. If you want to stay in a hopping place with lots of bars and restaurants, this isn't the place for you. The beach is the most beautiful I believe I've ever seen.
My family and I traveled to Cape San Blas in hopes of catching a few scallops on the last weekend of the season. There are only 4 of us and the Villa worked out just great. It has a very nice dock and provided easy access to the Bay. Based on the fun that we had this year, I am sure we will be reserving the unit for next year.
There are six cabins at Scallop Cove. Over the years, I have stayed in each. The up-keep and general condition of #5, though acceptable was NOT up to par with the others (based on past visits). This was, however, offset by a lower asking price for the week. In this economy, this was a fair trade-off for me. The scalloping was GREAT this year! (AUG 2009)
Everything was great except that great big yard to play on and way tooo many red ants. Don't stand in one place on the lawn very long. I usually took the boardwalk around which was cool. Take care of this issue and it would have been perfect all the way around. Thanks
We had a woderful time at Scallop Cove #5. We were able to keep the boat at the dock and walk over to the Gulf, it was the best of both worlds. We will be back next year!
The power was off the first 7 hours but Scott was very accomadating and it turned out to be no problem. and the power being off was no fault of Coastal Joes. The only reason that that I would be apperhensive about to many people knowing what a wonderful visit we ALWAYS on the Cape, is fear people will find out what a wonderful secret ya ll have down there. I might lose my Paradise!!! I would hate calling to find out ya ll have no vacancys. Can t wait for off season rates!! Call when they are avalible.
Woody made the reservations, but we are actually family of Woody. His family stayed in #6. We had a wonderful time and plan to come back next year!
For a less expensive, bay side rental, this unit was very nice. The interior was updated and modern with all the basics. The view of the bay is gorgeous and the dock is a nice extra, along with the huge backyard. (lg, flat grassy area - great for dogs and kids to play) Space in the bedrooms is tight. No bedroom closets and no room for luggage on the floor. The screened in porch and deck are a nice size.
Our party of four, with a 1 yr old baby and dog, selected this spot because it allowed pets and had availability in mid August for 3 nights. It's location facing the bay is convenient, especially if you fish and have a boat which can be tied up to the dock behind the cottages. Gulf access is immediately across the road and it has a beautiful beach. The state park a few miles down the road is awesome! The cottage was functional and well equipped, but the back deck and screened porch are just a few feet from adjacent cottage, so you should hope for good neighbors while you are there. Only negatives to the cottage itself were a coffee maker that needed major cleaning, a tv and cable that never worked even though the on-duty manager immediately attempted to correct the problem. Although we would not normally have concerns over a lack of cable tv, it was an issue with our party because the Olympics were on. I would not recommend this rental to family or friends simply because the decks and porches of each cottage are so close to each other combined with the uncertainty of not knowing whether or not your immediate neighbors will turn out to be responsible adults.
