Argonauta

This was the second year we have stayed at Argonauta. The location on the cape is excellent and a nice beach view and access. This is a very comfortable home and was equipped with everything we needed. We very much appreciated the new charcoal grill as we like to cook out frequently. We enjoyed walking to Longbill’s restaurant and riding our bikes into the state park. We are looking forward to returning next year.

Wonderful location, large comfortable home, well-laid out, well-equipped. Minor issues: grill is useless, parking area needs work, kitchen trash can needs to be replaced, no beach towels, no recycling.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and was the 2nd time staying at this property. The house, for the most part was what we remembered, but seems to need a few updates to match the cost of a weekly rental. The location is prefect, as is the beach. The house really needs some adequate cookware, along with usable, functional decent size grill. The small charcoal on site is in disrepair and needs to be replaced.

The beautiful property is right on the beach! Cute decor inside. Ceiling fans throughout, two thermostats (1 upstairs 1 downstairs). Bathrooms were so spacious. The master has an amazing balcony. Working with rental company was a breeze. Plenty of towels. Heads up! Get extra toilet paper, trash bags, and paper towels dependent on the length of your stay.

This place is the PERFECT place for my family to gather and soak up all that the Cape has to offer. Our vacation had all the things . family dinners, fishing, beach reading, game night . and more. LOVE LOVE LOVE Argonauta

Overall I was very pleased with my visit to Cape San Blas. Very quiet, friendly people. Nice neighbors. Gulf shore is amazing. Home was very comfortable. Air Conditioning was perfect.
Overall price with taxes was very expensive.
Would like to visit Port St Joe area again but
maybe a smaller home on water less expensive.

We rented Argonauta for a spring break getaway for us and our kids and 4 grandkids. The house was perfect for our large group with plenty of room and the views were amazing! The house had everything we needed for the week and being able to walk right out on the beach was wonderful. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a place to make memories!!!

We loved our stay at Argonauta beach house, though, we like to call it the rocking chair beach house. There are 3 deck levels, two of which have rocking chairs to enjoy a perfect view of the ocean and those amazing sunsets. Our favorite thing to do was sit on the rockers and take in the view. We stayed two months and we were very comfortable in the house and the location on the cape is great. Though we were a couple renting the house, we felt it would be nice for families, too. The owners have made a closet area into a small playroom and had an additional table and chairs in the main area for little ones. Looking forward to another stay. Thanks to the staff at Coastal Joe who were very helpful during our visit.

There are many lovely beach spots on the cape, but, we feel the location of Argonauta is hard to beat. The area is not crowded and has the wonderful sugar sand beach. The beach house has a good layout and had everything we needed. We are looking forward to returning next year. Thanks to the staff at Coastal Joe who have been very helpful!

Argonauta is a very comfortable beach house that has been tastefully decorated in a not over the top beach vibe. The owners have equipped the kitchen well and we need not have brought our extra pans and utensils from home. The cape beach location could not be better and there is minimal traffic noise as it is off of the main road. The rockers on the upper and lower decks were great for enjoying the view. Staff at Coastal Joe were great to work with and helpful. No issues, just a wonderful stay!

Coastal Joe's staff is amazing. Everyone was always so helpful and kind. We loved this home, it was our home away from home without missing a beat, just a better view each day!!!

We've been to CSB for many years but this was our first time to be right on the beach. So worth it! Argonauta offered us views from every window, and from the porches, you can see both the gulf and the bay -- such a treat. The house was roomy enough for all of us while feeling cozy. The kids' games and little chairs were a big hit with our under-5 kids, especially when the rain kept us inside for a few days. Kitchen is well-equipped, and the house was clean and welcoming. Thanks, Argonauta! We can't wait to come back.

Coastal Joe went above and beyond our expectations to make sure we had an enjoyable week. Highly recommend them for your stay at Cape San Blas.

We enjoyed our stay and the house, it had everything we needed. Our only comment would be to have more than one baking pan. We had only one cookie sheet and no other baking pans. Everything else was great!

Great family beach house. My grandkids loved that the kid room and toy closet was perfectly decorated and stocked to make them feel at home and comfortable ! Short walk to the ocean great views ! Lots of sitting area on the decks and landings for morning coffee and conversation ! Hopefully will visit again one day !

Wonderfully comfortable beachfront home. Argonauta was immaculately clean and well-maintained. One maintenance issue was resolved promptly.

We loved our stay at Argonauta. The house was decorated beautifully. There was plenty of beach area, and it wasn’t too narrow like other parts of the cape. We didn’t have any kids with our group, but there are a few thoughtful touches that would make this a great rental for a family with small children. We would definitely stay here again!

This house is so perfect for kids. It is really close to the beach and has a private path to walk on. House is nice, clean and lots of room. It does need up grading. But this is our second time down in this house and will probably do it again.

Overall very happy with the rental. House was clean and well maintained on the inside. Would recommend better quality outside furniture. Dog flies were almost unbearable on the beach. I think the dog fly situation is a function of the time of year and prevailing wind direction.

Had a blast! Everything went great. House was perfect for use. Close to the beach and not many people at all.

This was our second time to stay in Argonauta and it was a great experience! We really appreciated the extra room in the pantry in the kitchen for our food. Argonauta hassich easy accessto the beach and a wonderful outdoor shower area with hot and cold water. Our kids thought showering outside was so cool! Thehouse wasmore than enough room for our party of 7 and was very comfortable! The wildlide onthe Cape is amazing, but I did almost step on a pygmy rattlesnake on our boardwalk, so be aware! We look forward to staying at Argonauta again in the future.

The house was older but clean. We enjoyed our stay. We called the office
for a couple of maintenance things and they responded immediately. They had a nice outdoor shower.

Steer Clear of this house and Coastal Joe Rentals for your vacation on the Cape. This house showed well in the photos, had adequate bedroom and bath set up for our group of 8. The description fit but the photos were deceiving. The house was not clean, deck was a mess with broken and dirty furniture. Then, after several days in the house, we had a smell in the bathroom that was like a porta pot at a rock concert. This smell permeated the down stairs so badly we had to keep the door shut. TWO calls to the office resulted in a plumber that pulled a teaspoon full of hair out of the drain and SPRAYED odor eliminator in the room.
I do not have room to add the rest of the details to this review. Just steer clear, the owners deserve their management fee money back just like we deserve a refund.

Great place in a beautiful location. Only problem was there was only one trash can & pick was done on Monday, after only two days. Otherwise was a great vacation.

This was our first visit to the Cape and we will be back (and will definitely choose this home again) Loved the area-away from hustle and bustle, but only 20 minutes away from a quaint small town. There is a nice trading post just down the road for any items you may need on short notice. Home is in a great location. The home is bigger than it looks in the pictures. Very clean and the owners spent thoughtful time on dcor. Large master suite upstairs was really nice, but all the rooms were nice. We loved the 3 bathrooms. The out side shower (hot and cold) and hose near the beach access to rinse off sand were really nice. Right on the beach with gentle slope! We walked the beach both directions and felt this home offered one of the nicest beach access'. No crowds! Excellent surf fishing was directly in front of the house. Was worried we may be too early for the weather, but weather was great (Mid March). We would recommend this property to anyone.

Property was as described-nice furnishings & good location & stocked with items needed - electric stove can be a little challenging with uneven heating elements-NOTE: property has CHARCOAL grill not GAS as we expected-had to pay $10 for small bag at convenience store until we could get to larger store in port st joe. Beach nice except for people letting their dogs poop & not picking it up. Very quiet, quaint little area. People at Coastal Joe very nice-easy check-in and check-out-nice to have checkout at 11:00 EST-phones are weird- sometimes went on central time & sometimes changed in middle of night to EST- phone service not very good but internet worked pretty well. High schooler was doing recycling project - that worked out really well for us - (cut down on our garbage amount & helped him too). Garbage pick-up is VERY EARLY on SAT am - set out on Friday night. LOVED having shower outside to wash off before going up and into house-also hose on deck landing was VERY HELPFUL. Beach has tons of shells - our grandsons loved collecting them. Our ages are seniors 55-65 and family 35-45 with 4 kids 4 - 12. Youngest kids loved beach & ocean from daylight to dark. We had a couple of storms - water came in back kitchen door & power went out one night late for about 1 1/2 hrs - make sure you have a flashlight handy - it is pitch dark!!! Place was wonderful and very comfortable.

Beautiful views of the gulf. Very roomy master suite with balcony. Other bedrooms are small but accommodating. Reasonably priced. This is our second time to stay in this vacation home and enjoyed it very much.

Loved the home and it's fantastic location. Was not happy with the experience of renting through a rental agency. Other VRBO experiences have been truly By Owner, not an agency and I believe were better experiences. That the agency provides one roll of toilet paper per bathroom for a week. Really? And that's the only paper product; no paper towels, Kleenex or trash bags at all. Linens were of poor quality. And $200 for a cleaning fee when we also had list of things we were required to do before leaving. If I'm going to pay that much, don't you think the cleaners could empty the trash, unload the clean dishes from the dishwasher and strip the beds? We left the house in as good of condition as we found it so believe the cleaning/linens fee was excessive. I'd definitely recommend the property, just wish it could be a true VRBO instead of through a rental agency.

Would have preferred better vacuuming before we arrived, and the TV selection is terrible. Coastal Joe staff could not have been more professional, friendly nor helpful. If we rent again, we hope it will be through Coastal Joe.

Overall the house was nice. It needs some clean up outside around the house. Broken chairs in the bushes, overgrown bushes, broken down grill. The location and beach are beautiful. Inside the house they need to get rid of some of the knick knacks. Renters need space to put their belongings without getting them mixed up with the owners belongings.

Argonauta was the perfect setting for a week of relaxing, fishing, playing games, eating too much and laughing too hard. How I wish I could give this place 20 stars. We will most certaly be back.

House was very nice. One of the kitchen lights didn't work. Settee cushions in living room need to be replaced. But regardless this is a great house would stay again. Coastal Joe's personnel very helpful.

Over all a very nice view, the windows and doors facing the ocean should probably have there seals fixed because on Friday and Saturday during the wind and rain it sounded like a wind tunnel and the kitchen door leading out to the deck leaks water. There was some garbage surrounding the house I realize that wind could be the cause but I also think other guests there didn't pick up after themselves. Had a good time, we think the house needs some general maintenance and clean up. Thank you for the expierance

We have stayed in Argonauta for years. Our only complaint is that the kitchen needs more space for your own groceries. Also, the skillets and pots and pans are cheap and very used and need replacing. We also would like it to be pet friendly.

Beautiful, comfortable, spacious, beautifully decorated, steps from the beach....couldn't have asked for more in a beach house!

My husband and I took 5 kids from 12 to 18 years old and my mother. We all had plenty of elbow room and enjoyed out second stay at the Argonauta. This house is so close to the beach and that's what we look for in a rental because we stay out by the shore from dawn to dusk! My only suggestion would be to add an ice maker. We love this place!

We have been staying at Argonauta for several years now. The home itself feels like you own house, just on the beach. Nothing too fancy, yet very nice. Each year it gets an update or upgrade of some form. It is better every time we go.

We just reurned from a wonderful weekend stay at the Argonauta on the Cape. It was just what we needed, a little R &R while my wife is undergoing weekly medical treatments.
The home was beautifully decorated, clean, and best of all, a perfect location to check sea turtle nests, fish, shell hunt, visit with the friendly sea birds... gulls, terns, brown pelicans, sand pipers...and watch gorgeous sunsets.
A perfect weekend getaway!

The stay was exceptional. The property was overall great with the exception, one bed room toilet had a slow tank refill. The linen provided was not in place on arrival, however, we did check in early and the linen was readily corrected. The property was very clean and the location was wonderful. Check in and check out was executed promptly and very professionally. We would readily recommend the Argonauta.

The property needs some repairs and updating. The floor to the main area slumped and can be seen from the garage looking up. The outdoor grill was in bad shape and did not look safe to use. Kitchen lights were sketchy. Random pieces of trash on the exterior and an occasional rat on the deck. Main floor really needs a queen bed vs a full size IMO. Other than a half a week of bad weather and crummy beach conditions along with the items stated above, the rest of the vacation was just ok.

We arrived with our 6 kids after a 13 hour drive. Check-in took about 2 minutes. Easy directions to home. Upon arrival we were happy with the home. This is a home that feels like someone lives here, not like a hotel or rental at all. We felt at-home and at ease to allow our kids to act as if we were at home. This house is about 10 steps to the sandy beach. Saw dolphin, pelican and even a sea turtle off the deck. Kids could wade out to the sand bar and be about 20 yards off shore and in ankle-deep waters. This house was so great that not even a Tropical Storm or a failed fuel pump in our Suburban could ruin this vacation (we were without a car all week and Coastal Joe's was great with any help we needed). We will be returning...

The location is great. We had a good time and didn't want to leave.
The seaweed was pretty bad most of the time, and we were told by some of the local people that it was in early this year. We picked a time that just happened to be full of rain but it was enjoyable.
The only things that could have been controlled that bothered us was were the kitchen lights worked at their own schedule, a light to light the stairs was out, and the coffee maker took forty-five minutes to brew. We solved that problem ourselves by buying a new one to use there.
The main problem was that the bathrooms were not very clean and had a bad odor. I cleaned them myself and found much mold under the rim, which apparently had not been well cleaned in some time. Also, the lack of linens required frequent use of the washer and dryer.
I only relate this information so that Coastal Joe and the property owner can improve the property for future guests, probably ourselves included.

it was like heaven!!! we had the best time, we love the cape and the house was right on the beach, couldn't ask for more. the set up of the house was fabulous and the boys loved the large chess set, i loved the couch in the master bedroom that looked out onto the ocean. hope to come back again!

The location is fantastic: close to the state park and not too many homes nearby. Even though it was Spring break, the beach was not crowded at all!
However, the house has seen better days and need some serious maintenance and upgrading!

My family has stayed at Argonauta for three (3) straight years. It is a wonderful vacation home, not too big or small. It is remarkably kid friendly as well. One of its best features is the location. It is situated directly on the beach and does not even have a board walk. Step off the deck and you are there. Also, there are fewer homes in the area, which means we have the beach all to ourselves.

The furnishings are nice and the place is very well taken care of when you consider it was built several years ago. Whoever gets the master bedroom will feel like they have their own suite. There is a private balcony that is excellent for turtle watchers, and my Wife and I usually end our day up there.

All in all, we have been exceedingly happy with our stays there and would certainly recommend Argonauta to anyone. There may be newer and nicer places on the Cape, but in Argonauta you get a home away from home for a reasonable rental fee.

Argonauta was everything we could hope for. My husband and I, our college aged daughter, our adult son, his wife and their 18-month old son were perfectly comfortable here during the 4th of July holiday week. Beautifully decorated home with well appointed kitchen and
laundry room. Steps take you directly to the beach. We saw dolphins every day and at times they appeared to be playing in the waves. The Gulf water is very clear... You could see your toes even in neck-deep water! We enjoyed the sunset every evening from the back deck. We plan to stay here again, hopefully for my 50th birthday in September!

The reason for not recommending has nothing to do with the property etc. We love our "wee bit of heaven" and don't want to share it or "the Forgoten Coast" with anyone. Part of its beauty for us, at the time of year we are there is its solitude.
